A statewide fund called Arkansas LGBTQ+ Advancement Fund supported organizations working to improve the quality of life for LGBTQ+ Arkansans by providing legal, health, education, advocacy or other high-demand services/programs.
The Fund was started through grants from the Alice L. Walton Foundation and from Olivia and Tom Walton through the Walton Family Foundation. It was also supported by additional funds from the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation.
The Fund distributed grants to Arkansas-based organizations that provide critical services to the state’s LGBTQ+ community. National entities with a local presence, established in-state partnerships and strong community relationships also qualified.
The first round of grants from the LGBTQ+ Advancement fund were made in January, 2022.
